This web site contains oval pictures with the names of lawyers who practiced with James Stone or at 1013 Jackson Avenue. These are photographs of the ceiling in and in the hall just outside T.H. Freeland, IV's office; the mural was painted by local painter Gus Uth at the time of the 1905 renovations. Details about those lawyers and their work with Stone are found in the history page in this site. At the time Uth painted the "back office" ceiling, he painted Masonic emblemary on the front office ceiling. These were lost over time.
All material within these pages is © Freeland & Freeland except the following: The photograph of William Faulkner and Phil Stone on the history page, which is © Phil Mullen and is used by permission; the short quote from Phil Stone of Oxford on the history page, which is © University of Georgia Press; and the short quotes from The Sound and the Fury, Sartoris, and The Collected Stories of William Faulkner on the history page, which is © William Faulkner. The historical information was based upon conversations Tom and Hal Freeland had with Emily and Phil Stone and Elizabeth Kerr, and upon Susan Snell's book.
